Alpha Jewel
This past weekend we took the girls over their Aunti Chai's and Cousin Belle's house. Chai is the alpha in that house and always has been. Belle is the new comer in that house, and despite being a 6 month old Golden Retriever, Jewel feels that she is number two in that house. Not Belee, but Jewel. I think its because Jewel knows that she has been going there longer than Belle has lived there.
A few weeks ago when we were there, Jewel played this game with Belle. She picked up Belle's bone and started walking around with it. She would growl when Belle would get to close. After a while she stepped up the game by putting the bone down then sitting herself down 2 feet from the bone. When Belle would get close, Jewel would growl. When she got to close, Jewel would lunge while barking in her high pitched shrill until Belle backed off.
This past weekend, we learned that Jewel is somewhat protective if not possessive of Daddy. Jewel pretty much ignored Belle, until later in the night. She only barked at Belle if she were wanting to be to playful. At some point, Daddy decided to let Belle kiss his face. Jewel saw this and lunged at Belle, barking and fake-biting her neck. Belle would just look away until Jewel was done. This happened 3 times. Everytime dad's face would get near Belle's face, Jewel would "attack."
Quite entertaining, given Jewel is a bunny rabbit compared to Belle. We did decide it wasn't worth encouraging so stopped.
